The Bemboka Show Society Inc. supports a number of equestrian events each year.
We need volunteers!
If you or a family member or friend can help out on dressage days please contact us.
We are looking for people who can help with scoring, pencilling, gear check, lunches and morning teas, transferring tests from judges to scorers, setting up and packing up arenas, and First Aid.
Enjoy the atmosphere of a great country show in a great locality
In addition to the horse program at the annual Bemboka Show, dressage events are held at the Bemboka Showgrounds each Winter and Spring. There are both Official and Restricted competitions from Preparatory level up to and including Medium level.
These events are part of the Far South Coast Dressage Association’s annual point scoring table.
The dates for 2017 Working Equitation and Dressage events are 10-
The Lethal Weapon Memorial Prize is awarded each November for the horse and rider combination whose scores have improved the most over those achieved at the June dressage event.
It is a condition of entry that competitors are responsible for knowing and complying with the National Dressage Rules.
These can be downloaded from the Equestrian Australia website
The Bemboka Horse Ride just gets better every year with all riders greatly enjoying and commenting on the wonderful scenery and good company that Bemboka has to offer. Through the generous support of local land holders we are also able to change the route that the riders follow from time to time.
There are no stables at the showground. If the cattle yards need to be used, please leave them clean and close the gates securely each time they are accessed. The cattle yards are not available for use on Show Day.
Please be aware that petrol is no longer available in Bemboka Village. The nearest petrol stations are Bega, Cobargo or Cooma.
Bemboka Horse Ride
Since the 1st of September 2012 the NSW Department of Primary Industries have required that people with horses on their property need to apply for a Property Identification Code (PIC). This is a biosecurity measure. The introduction of Horse Flu to Australia in 2007 heightened the need to be prepared in the event of any such outbreak. The authorities were hampered in 2007, lacking the ability to quickly trace horse movements and prevent the spread of disease.
PICs will assist in tracing any future disease outbreak and so limit the debilitating effect on the horse industry. To prevent a future state or national standstill of horse movement it is in the interest of all horse owners to have a PIC. Download more information about PICs HERE.
From 1 January 2015, it will be a condition of entry for all equestrian events at the Bemboka Showground that PICs are supplied to event organisers to help ensure the safety of all horses and riders.
